Event Date:
Saturday, July 22, 2017

Austin Peay State University speakers from the Total Solar Peay-clipse lecture series will partner with Clarksville Parks and Recreation to give talks to the public focused on different aspects and impacts of the Total Solar Eclipse and other phenomena related to understanding our solar system and civilization. The goal of these talks is to help raise awareness about the Eclipse and to educate others about the science and safety requirements related to the Total Solar Eclipse. We will have one presentation every month at one of the movies in the park and at each of these presentations we will have solar eclipse viewing glasses and a commemorative Total Eclipse Book available for purchase from the audience. In addition we will have a booth set up at the downtown market every Saturday to pass out safety and information fliers and sell solar viewing glasses. The talk and movie feature for July 22nd is "The Secret Lives of Astronomers," by Dr. J. Allyn Smith with the movie in the park featuring "Secret Life of Pets," at McGregor Park, Clarksville, TN.
